Doctrinal Statement of Faith

Our doctrinal statement demonstrates AssessME.org’s commitment to actively serving the Church of our Lord. To achieve this goal, we must remain faithful to Biblical teachings as we interpret them, which represent a variety of perspectives from different denominations and non-denominational churches. The wide range of Christian denominations served by AssessME.org indicates that our assessments and reports use language that is inclusive and relevant. Although your church or denomination may articulate its doctrinal statement differently, we all recognize that minor differences in wording should not create divisions within the Church of Jesus Christ.

On God, We

We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, including both the Old and New Testaments, through human authors inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible, as the Word of God, is without error in its original writings and reveals His will for salvation and daily life. It is the supreme authority by which all aspects of human knowledge and pursuits should be evaluated. Therefore, we should accept its teachings, obey its commands, and trust in its promises.

The Bible, We…

We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, including both the Old and New Testaments, through human authors inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible, as the Word of God, is without error in its original writings and reveals His will for salvation. It is the supreme authority by which all aspects of human knowledge and pursuits should be evaluated. Therefore, we should accept its teachings, obey its commands, and trust in its promises.

The Human Condition, We…

We affirm that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. Connected to Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and choice, estranged from God, and under His wrath. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be saved from sin, reunited with God, and ultimately restored in our nature.

Jesus Christ, We…

Believe that Jesus Christ is the incarnation of God, fully God and fully man, existing as one Person in two natures. Jesus, the promised Messiah of Israel, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, rose from the dead in bodily form, ascended to heaven, and now serves as our High Priest and Advocate at the right hand of God the Father.

The Work of Christ, We…

Believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect and all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection are the only basis for salvation.

The Holy Spirit, We…

Believe in the Holy Spirit, who glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ in all He does. He convicts the world of its guilt, regenerates sinners, and through Him, they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips, and empowers believers for living a Christ-like life in service of others and of God.

The Church, We…

We believe that the true church consists of all individuals who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, with Him as the Head. The Lord Jesus has commanded two ordinances, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly represent the gospel. While not means of salvation, when observed by the church with sincere faith, these ordinances act as a public and personal testimony of the believer’s connection with Christ. Additionally, the Church has been given three mission directives: Love One Another (John 13:34), Make Disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19), and Equip Disciples for Ministry Service (Ephesians 4:12).

Christian Living, We…

Affirm that God’s justifying grace should be inseparable from His sanctifying power, which transforms the life of every true Christian in nature, character, and purpose. We are instructed to love God above all and to love others sacrificially. It is our duty to live out our faith by showing care for one another through the diverse gifts distributed by the Holy Spirit to His people, the Church.

Each Christian is designed by God for a particular Kingdom purpose and receives personal giftedness from the Holy Spirit to edify the Body of Christ. Similarly, the Body of Christ is tasked with being a testimony to Christ’s love in this fallen world by demonstrating genuine compassion towards the needy and orphaned, and advocating for justice for the oppressed. Through God’s Word, the power of the Spirit, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil in this fallen world.

Ultimately, in obedience to Christ’s great co-commission, where Christ has pledged never to abandon us, we are to disciple people of all nations in the name of Jesus Christ, always proclaiming the gospel through both words and actions.

Christ’s Return, We…

Believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, requires constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, inspires the believer towards godly living, sacrificial service, and energetic mission.

Response and Eternal Destiny, We…

We affirm that God commands all people, regardless of their location, to believe in the gospel by repenting and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We believe that God will physically raise the dead and judge the world, condemning unbelievers to eternal conscious punishment and granting believers eternal joy and blessedness in the new heaven and earth, all to glorify His grace. Amen.
