An Overview of Our Spiritual Gifts Test
The graceGIFTS tool is a spiritual gifts test that explores your passions, interests, and experiences related to serving Christ, using abilities given by the Holy Spirit.

Biblical Foundation
In 1 Corinthians 12:1, the Apostle Paul asserts: “Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant”. Later, in verse 7 of that same chapter we are told, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good ”. This makes clear the two-fold purpose of spiritual gifts
1.) To provide proof or evidence that the Holy Spirit indwells the believer
2.) To build up the body of Christ
In verse 12 we learn that all spiritual gifts come from the Holy Spirit and the gifts are distributed to each person just as He determines. Finally, in verse 31 of this chapter, we are told to “eagerly desire the greater gifts.” This leads many to believe that we can ask God specifically for spiritual gifts that we believe would benefit our ministry or the body of Christ.
Focus On Your Strengths
AssessME reports only your top six spiritual gifts. We limit the report because we believe it is essential to focus your ministry service in areas that require your top giftedness. In so doing, you are much more likely to be effective for the Kingdom of Christ, and much less likely to struggle with stress and ministry burn-out.
Because spiritual giftedness is dynamic and ever-changing, we encourage you to re-take the spiritual gift assessment at least once every year. As you mature in Christ and in ministry experience, you will likely discover that individual spiritual gifts develop uniquely. In most cases, these changes will only affect the order of your top gifts. However, you may also observe that over time, lower-level gifts achieve higher scores and replace other gifts in your top rankings.

Three Types of Spiritual Gifts
People often argue about how many Spiritual Gifts are mentioned in the Bible. These debates usually stem from different traditions. However, we don’t focus on those arguments. Instead, we look at the whole Bible and see that there are three main categories of giftedness…
About Skills: In the Old Testament, God says that He gives us our skill-abilities (Exodus 31:3). That’s why GraceGifts© includes Old Testament skill-gifts like Creativity and Music/Worship. God gave these skills for special roles, such as Temple Gatekeepers and Craftsmen (1 Chronicles 23:5). In essence, these are Old Testament spiritual gifts granted to us by the Holy Spirit.
The Practical Spiritual Gifts, which are primarily found in the New Testament, are the main focus of our spiritual gift test. How a person uses their gift depends on their personality. Personality filtered gifts are called Gift Expressions. Our gift list includes skill-based gifts from both the New and Old Testaments. These gifts comprise our default spiritual gift list.
Revelatory spiritual gifts, which are also known as “self-evident gifts”, are spiritual gifts that the Holy Spirit displays through people in the moment. In fact, John Wimber, founder the Vineyard church movement, categorized these gifts as “Gifts of Divine Intervention“.
Unlike practical gifts, these gifts are not directly held by the Christian, and so they are not influenced by one’s personality. The Holy Spirit manifests the gift through an individual, so for example, God may inspire you to pray over a sick person and the person is healed. Your personality did not influence the effectiveness of the prayer, nor may the Lord ever again utilize you for the healing of another informed person. The healing was a “Gift of Divine Intervention”.
Please note, some theological traditions view Prophecy only as “Holy Spirit-inspired preaching” from the Greek rendering “To speak forth”. Because of this interpretation, we have now added Prophecy to the default gift list. (See the related Gift Expressions in the table above).
